BMRC logo

Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) was established in 1972 by order of the President as an Autonomous Body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW). The objectives, rules & regulations of the Council were formulated by resolution of the MOH & FW in 1974 & 1976.

As per the resolution of the Government, BMRC is the focal point for Health Research. The objectives of BMRC are to identify problems and issues relating to medical and health sciences and to determine priority areas in research on the basis of health care needs, goals, policies and objectives.

BMRC/BNMRC have taken the initiative to launch a Bangladesh Cancer Genome Project (BCGP) for multi-omics profiling of common cancers in the Bangladesh Population. The BCGP has established strong ties with the Indian Cancer Genome Atlas ( ICGA) project which was launched in 2020. Both projects have common goals and will have a significant impact on Personalised Cancer Management in local populations in the next decade

3rd ICGA Conference

We at Centre for Translational Cancer Research (CTCR) invite you all to the 3rd ICGA Conference ‘Biobanking to Omics: Collecting the Global Experience’ to be held on 13th and 14th January 2022. The aim of the conference is to bring together global experts who have successfully built comprehensive datasets to understand genetic and molecular profiles of cancer. As ICGA begins the profiling activities of cancer in India, the global experience will set a benchmark and be a guide towards excellence. We invite all of you to attend the virtual conference and join hands with this collective initiative of ICGA to profile cancers in India.

ICGA membership appeal

We take this opportunity to urge all the clinicians, hospitals, cancer researchers and affiliate institutes to join the ICGA efforts to ensure a good representation of cancer patients across India to be able to reach an unbiased and comprehensive understanding of molecular nature of cancer in India.

Call for posters

The 3rd ICGA conference invites you to send a poster of your research in the area of the conference theme : ‘Biobanking to Omics: Collecting the Global Experience’. This will be an opportunity for young researchers to showcase their work in front of leaders of the field. Posters will be judged by a panel of experts. Know More
