Sunil Badve, M.D., FRCPath., is currently the Joshua Edwards Professor of Pathology with joint appointment in department of Internal Medicine. He received his medical degree and pathology residency at Grant Medical College and Tata Memorial Hospital for cancer. He did further training at the St George’s Medical School and at Royal Marsden Hospital, England. In USA, he trained at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine (NY) and at Yale and went on join the faculty of Northwestern University.

Dr. Badveis the breast Pathologist for ECOG group and serves on the NCI Breast Cancer Steering Committee. He is recognized as a Komen Scholar by the Susan G Komen for the Cure and has been a PI and co-investigator on several NIH (R01; R21), and DOD grants. He has over publication of over 240 peer-reviewed scientific articles in addition to invited reviews and book chapters including WHO Classifications of Breast and Thymic tumors. He has several patents and has developed and commercialized a gene signature for the prognostication of thymic and breast cancers.

He serves as the associate editor of Clinical Breast Cancer and on the editorial board of 7 additional journals (Modern Pathology, JCO Precision Oncology, Pathology, BMC Cancer, Journal of Cancer, Journal of Clinical PathologyandOnkoPathology (Russian)). Dr. Badve has served ASCO-CAP Guidelines Committee for hormone receptor assessment in breast cancer and has also contributed to Breast cancer Chapter in the AJCC staging book (8th Edition).
