Prof. S. Mahalingam, Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. He completed his graduate training from Madurai Kamraj University and post-doctoral research from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. His research at IIT M is focussed on Molecular mechanism in tumour biology and molcular pathogenesis of HIV/aids. He is also the professor incharge of the tumour biobank at IITM – the National Cancer Tissue Biobanks (NCTB). The NCTB collects tumour from cancer patients with consent. The biobank collaborates with multiple medical centres across Chennai to collect cancer tissue. Facilities for ‘omics analysis of tissue are also maintained as part of the Biobank.
